Scott Jurek is the author of New York Times bestselling book Eat and Run.
Scott Jurek is a legend in ultrarunning. As a runner myself, this book came at a fantastic time in my own personal life, as I was struggling with (healthy) fueling on my long runs/hikes. Scott’s outlook on life in general is refreshing! His continually positive attitude & the entertaining spin he tends to put on things, i.e. his views on diet/lifestyle and how important it is to eat good food & partake in exercise are weaved all throughout the book. Anything about diet is ultra important to me as I myself am in the mist of a lifestyle change (what I eat) & while reading Eat and Run, I didn’t feel so alone in my plight to eat natural/healthy. And now thanks to Eat and Run, I have a ideas about how to fuel before, during and after a race.
This of course brings me to the recipes given all throughout the book! I am in the middle of trying some of them, and hope he writes a cookbook soon). Please Scott write a cookbook!
The characters weaved all throughout the book are fascinating and well developed as their evolvement continued to draw me into the book and Scott’s life. ( I want to meet this Dusty) Evidently, Scott was on a deep spiritual journey, searching for something all of us hope to find.
With the dream of completing my own ultra marathon one day in the near future, I found his insights into running informative, enlightening & inspiring. All throughout his spiritual journey he shares the good/bad, his doubts/success and never with an inflated ego.
This book is not just for ultra runners! Anyone who is looking for answers (such as myself) will gleam a few things from this book.
Eat and Run is easy to read and impossible to put down. It spoke volumes to me and will to anyone wanting to eat healthier! This book is inspirational and entertaining.
